I use plaster for a lot of my paintings to give them an embossed effect which I think makes them stand out. In this instance, I mixed the plaster to get a thick consistency so I could then model shapes and sculpture images onto the canvases. If you look at the close-up image of the sun, I used small sequin hearts which I set into the plaster while it was still wet. After a few days, the plaster was solid and ready for the paint to be applied. Once I`d painted my design, I then used embossing pens to highlight certain areas of the painting.
